This weekend athletes and trainers from around the Northeast are coming to CrossFit Boston to get their Level 1 CrossFit Certification.  They’re interested in learning more about CrossFit and taking their knowledge to the next level so they can share their love and passion for constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement with their family, friends, and community.

If you feel the same way about Rowing, especially when combining it with CrossFit, then you should come get some knowledge too!  CrossFit Boston will be hosting a 2-Day CrossFit Rowing Trainer’s Course June 8-9.  On Saturday CrossFit Rowing Coach Shane Farmer will be dropping some know-how on the erg and on Sunday all participants will get a chance to take their new-found knowledge to the water at Community Rowing.

Do you want to Row on the Water?

I know there are a ton of athletes out there discovering the fun of training with the Concept2 Ergometer.  Combining rowing with functional fitness can be a lot of fun and yield unparalleled results.  If you thought constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity was fun in the gym, you should get outside and try it on the water as part of a team!

If you’re in the Boston Area and would like to learn to row on the water and race this summer then come to CrossFit Boston Iron and Grit (114 Western Ave, Allston, MA) this Saturday, March 9th, at 8:30am.  We will be having an info session to discover the possibilities of taking our training to the water starting in April.

If you’re not in the Boston Area, but you would still like to row on the water, send me an email at pat@renegaderowing.com.  I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction.  As the weather gets nicer and we get on the water you can expect to see some Rowing WODs that involve rowing on the water, not just the erg.

What are you doing to improve efficiency and performance in competition this year?

Deliberate practice makes perfect, but sometimes you need to get out of your garage or out of your box to gain more knowledge and improve your skills.  This is the first of many posts I’ll be offering up to the world that will highlight amazing opportunities to get out of your normal routine, learn something new, and have some fun.

On June 8th and 9th CrossFit Boston will be hosting a two-day CrossFit Rowing Trainer Course.  Head Coach Shane Farmer will be at CrossFit Boston on Saturday to give everyone the knowledge they need to improve their rowing and teach it to others.  On Sunday I will be helping the folks at Community Rowing Inc. teach everyone to scull and row on the water.  It will be a blast, so sign-up early before it fills up!

Also, to help promote the CrossFit Rowing Cert., Renegade Rowing has developed a two-hour Renegade Rowing Workshop to give your box a taste of what they will learn at the certification and improve their performance in training and competition.  If you own a box or would like to see a workshop at your gym this winter and spring, shoot me an email at Pat@RenegadeRowing.com and we can set it up.  I’ll have more details about the Renegade Rowing Workshop up on the site soon.
